"I was always looking outside myself for strength and confidence but it comes from within. It is there all the time."
—Anna Freud

Education/ Training:
I am a Physician and Psychiatrist, with nearly 40 years of clinical experience and specialty Board certification.
  • Doctorate of Medicine: New York University School of Medicine; New York, N.Y.
  • Psychiatry Residency: California Pacific Medical Center, Chief Resident; San Francisco, CA.
  • Internship: Surgical Pathology, Kaiser Permanente;  San Francisco, CA.
  • Bachelor of Arts: Franklin and Marshall College, Physics, with Honors, Phi Beta Kappa;  Lancaster, PA

Clinical Experience:
As a student, I trained in 2 of the busiest inner city medical communities in the world; "hot beds" during the HIV/ AIDS crisis:
New York City, and San Francisco. This was a unique time of fast-paced learning for the medical profession.
I was also on the front lines of our country's response to 9/11: caring for veterans returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, at the VA hospital in Denver.  I am committed to helping people. While I offer tele-health sessions when desired,
I believe there is unique value meeting in person, especially for initial sessions.  In addition to traditional academic training,
I have studied genetic testing, medical acupuncture, and am certified in EMDR and Reiki healing.

Board Certifications/Licensure/Memberships:
  • American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (1995, 2004, 2014, 2024)
  • EMDR: levels I, II
  • Reiki Master: level III
  • Medical License: 1996-present: Colorado
  • DEA License

Clinical Style:
I have worked with many people, from teenage to elderly, for almost 4 decades.  I try to create a down-to-earth space for
conversation during sessions, and tend to use analogies and humor a good deal. My interest in providing the most holistic, comprehensive care led to extensive study in alternative modes of investigation and healing, such as medical acupuncture, nutrition and supplementation, genetic testing, and certifications in EMDR and Reiki healing.  I endorse proven traditional
as well as alternative healing methods, and I am a medical scientist at heart. I follow the data, guided by my clinical experience.

Hobbies/ Interests:
As a former athlete, I appreciate being both active and reflective.  I practice daily yoga, enjoy swimming, gardening, hiking, cooking for family, meditation, learning about ancient civilizations, writing.
